Program

Solar Wind 16 will be organized around a group of ‘scene-setting’ review talks on topics of [1] Fundamentals of solar wind physics, including sources and heating and acceleration mechanisms, [2] Solar wind ‘interactions’, including CIRs, solar wind-planet interactions, CMEs, and the solar wind-ISM boundaries, and [3] ‘The Big Picture’ – how solar wind physics informs plasma astrophysics, exoplanet analog science, etc.

An attempt has been made to invite a diverse, mid-career group of ‘scene-setting’ speakers who will review the state-of-the-art on their respective topics, and these talks will be augmented by contributed abstracts. Some confirmed scene-setters are: Lina Hadid, Matt Kunz, Lorenzo Matteini, Merav Opher, Erika Palmerio, Viviane Pierrard, Alexis Rouillard, and Yi-Ming Wang. We will also have ‘Long View’ talks from Marcia Neugebauer and Russ Howard.

The goal is to stimulate a lively set of discussions and, in light of new data from Parker Solar Probe, Solar Orbiter, DKIST, and other projects, push the envelope of ‘consensus’ on solar wind physics. There will be session to discuss the future and what we should be doing next.
